Workshop: The Colour of What We Inhabit

On the occasion of Vanessa Donoso López's exhibition (O-O-O), Vanessa has invited Solange to Ireland to lead a workshop entitled The Colour of What We Inhabit. The workshop explores the relationship between landscape and textile through plants, soil, and mineral pigments. Participants will immerse cloth in a shared earth bath made from Irish soils and peat, then create prints and marks with pigments gathered from different landscapes connected to Vanessa’s movements and travels. Each textile becomes a personal cartography that emerges from a common ground, and together the textiles form a collective map of movement, memory, and belonging.

The workshop is organised around two gestures: Immersion creates the shared ground. Printing creates the individual trace. The final installation brings all textiles together as a collective landscape.

This workshop is a two day workshop, completed over two three hour sessions. We ask that you please commit to both sessions so please ensure you can attend both days to complete the workshop. Places are very limited and so we will request a confirmation of attendance closer to the time.

Solange Dalannais is a multidisciplinary artist integrating visual, textile, performative arts, and architecture. She has extensive experience in textile printing and has conducted a ten-year research project on the creation of organic natural dyes and their interaction with various materials and biomaterials. Her work employs and revalues traditional artisanal practices, reflecting a continuous commitment to care and reconnection with the natural and social environment. She reinterprets ancestral knowledge through a creative lens, merging it with contemporary methods to open up new possibilities and approaches to address today’s challenges. She is a teacher of Keepmoving method of creation in action and holds a Master's degree in Creative Intelligence from Mercedes Boronat. She is a member of the artistic collective Tornen les Esquelles, creating large-scale textile works using regenerative local wool.

Vanessa Donoso López reflects her experiences growing up in Barcelona and living in Ireland for over twenty years. Her practice explores identity, migration, and cultural behaviours shaped by relocation and adaptation. Her solo exhibition (O-O-O), is currently on view at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios. Event Location Information: This workshop will be held on the first floor accessible via stairs and lift. There is a semi accessible bathroom on the ground floor.
