TBG+S are pleased to present 'Ludus’, a multimedia talk by Conor Mary Foy, taking place in his studio and marking the end of his year long residency at TBG+S. Conor Mary Foy is the 2014 recipient of the Temple Bar Gallery + Studios Recent Graduate Studio Residency, and has spent the last year developing his artistic practice at TBG+S studio 16.

The talk will showcase Conor’s recent work and contextualise it by presenting historical information and found video footage which has had a specific influence on his work. This presentation will be followed by a Q&A session lead by curator Rayne Booth, and refreshments.

Studio Talks at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios are informal events in which member studio artists discuss their recent work in the familiar surroundings of their own studio. These events are free of charge, and provide an opportunity to gain an insight into the particular motivations behind an artist’s work. All are welcome.

About Conor Mary Foy;

Conor Mary Foy works primarily in Video, live art, photography and sculpture. A recurring element in his work is the use of masked or hooded actors; sculptural installations and objects often exist in relation to the figure or actor. Props, sculptures, and costumes are used to feed into other artworks, in this way his practice is often cyclical. Influences in Foy’s work include Utopian Fiction and Science Fiction, Group and power dynamics, Ritual, theology, the history of heresy, pagan and folk arts, cults, and an interest in secret societies.
Conor Mary Foy (Born 1984, Dublin) studied at the National College of Art and Design and was awarded the Recent Graduate studio Residency by Temple Bar Gallery and Studios Dublin for 2014/2015. Solo exhibitions include "Adiaphora" at Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Dublin, (2013) and “Teratology" at Flatpack Gallery and Studios, Dublin, (2013). Recent group exhibitions and two person shows have included; ‘Talisman’ LUX three minutes works, at Enclave projects, London, UK (2014)“At dawn we will stand in a circle, as the sun rises it will renew the souls of the pure” at NCAD gallery, Dublin (2014)(with Nicky Teegan) “At Dawn we will stand in a circle holding hands...” at Tactic, Cork (2013) 'Numina', NCAD Graduate Exhibition (2013) 'Observance Ur', Crate Space, Margate, UK (2013), Performance Evening, Monster Truck Gallery, Dublin (2012).
