Artist and composer David Donohoe presents a live open performance and ALSO editions publication, Afield.
Afield is an open performance format devised by David Donohoe, which presents field recordings, spoken texts and live instrumentation as an ongoing concern. The first iteration of Afield took place at The Museum of Literature Ireland (MoLI), April 2026. The ALSO editions’ book Afield is a typographic transposition of the open performance, accompanied by photographs taken by Donohoe during various field recording trips.
David Donohoe is a composer, recordist, artist, live performer and improviser. He works at the intersection of instrumentation, synthesis, field-recording and processing. His performance practice involves scored works, electroacoustic presentation and solo or collaborative improvisation.
ALSO editions is a Dublin-based publications imprint co-ordinated by Peter Maybury. It released its first four titles in April 2026, with a catalogue now running to 16 titles by both emerging and established practitioners. Graphic design allows you enter into all sorts of otherwise unavailable discourses, and ALSO editions uses this as the lever that brings about each publication, The books are a place through which to meet people, and to make available slight, but precise insights into the lives of others, using the syntax of graphic design and the space of the book.
Event location information: This event will take place in a room with theatre style seating with low lighting with an audio production. The space is accessible by lift and stairs and there is a semi-accessible bathroom on the ground floor. Please check-in at the cash desk in Dublin Art Book Fair, where you will be directed to the event room.
