Further Information

The National Irish Visual Arts Library (NIVAL) have a creative corner at this year's DABF where you can take time to join the ‘Flock’ and create a page for an artist book anytime throughout the Fair.

The National Irish Visual Arts Library (NIVAL) join Dublin Art Book Fair to create a collaborative Artist Book. Visit DABF and take time in the Gallery to take a postcard and sit and draw your own page, joining the ‘Flock’ in this public collaborative artist book. Draw a picture, write a word or write a sentence on the front and back, telling us of something you have LEARNED and something you have TAUGHT. The pages will be bound together to make a DABF x NIVAL collaborative artist book. Come by NIVAL in the future to see your page alongside others! No experience necessary!

The National Irish Visual Arts Library (NIVAL) is an initiative of NCAD in partnership with the Arts Council of Ireland. Since 1997, NIVAL has become the foremost centre for the documentation of contemporary art and design in Ireland and holds arguably the largest public-access artist book collection in Ireland.

Dublin Art Book Fair (4–14 December 2025) is a centre for contemporary artist books offering a wide selection of artist publications and titles from creative, small and independent publishers, both Irish or international, to browse or buy. In conjunction with the Fair, DABF presents an programme of book launches, publisher's talks, and workshops, offering ways to engage and gain insight into contemporary independent and arts publishing.

Location Information: This activity takes place in the window of the ground-floor, street-facing Gallery. There will be cushions on a low window ledge which will act as seating and materials will be provided. The space contains tables of various heights displaying books where members of the public will be browsing throughout.
