Young Art Writers workshop with poet Annemarie Ní Churreáin
14 — 21 April 2026, 6–7:30pm
A two-part art writing workshop led by poet Annemarie Ní Churreáin in response to Lucy Stein’s current exhibition Lunula
23 November 2019, 2pm - 4pm
Join artist Mairead O’hEocha who will guide you through two basic theories on the organisation of colour.
This workshop will look at the work of Gunta Stolzl, the first female "Master" at the Bauhaus and other works of art which relate to the terms - colour unity and colour anomaly. You will be shown a slide presentation which will include historic and contemporary examples of artworks which demonstrate colour unity and colour anomalies. Participants will get to create and keep their own colour experiments.
“A colour anomaly is a single colour that contradicts, through difference, the overall character of the colour field in which it appears. How to create images which understand the interaction of colour, How much unity is desirable?”*
*David Hornung Colour - A workshop for artists and designers
The exercises in this book expand on Josef Albers book - The Interaction of Colour.
