Public Lecture by Dr. Linda King ‘Art + Politics = Design: Visualising Identity in 20th Century Ireland’
As part of Dublin Art Book Fair 2015, this talk will analyse Ireland's process of decolonisation as visualised through examples of popular culture. As the concept of professionalised design activity is relatively recent to Ireland, the contribution of indigenous artists and expertise imported from abroad is essential in considering how concepts of Irish identity were framed and promoted to support political agendas.
