Temple Bar Gallery + Studios is pleased to announce the second in its series of Supporters Club Talks. Supporters Club Talk #2 'The Artist and The Engineer' features Curator Gavin Wade (UK). Gavin is an artist-curator and Director of Birmingham's Eastside Projects, an artist-run exhibition space with many differences. Eastside Projects is a public space being imagined and organised by artists. Gavin was recipient of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Breakthrough Fund Award for exceptional cultural entrepreneurs in 2010. His talk will offer a unique opportunity to hear him speak about his curatorial ideas, practices and projects, and the setting up of Eastside Projects.

This year's Supporters Club Talks series presents four speakers on the theme of 'production, practice, ideas'. Gavin Wade's Talk follows on from artist Jaki Irvine's 'On holding on and letting go', in which Jaki presented three recent film works and the ideas and concepts that connect them. Forthcoming special guest speakers include Francis McKee (Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow) and Declan Long (National College of Art and Design, Dublin).

About Gavin Wade
Gavin Wade is an artist-curator and Director of Eastside Projects. In 2010 he received the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Breakthrough Fund Award for exceptional cultural entrepreneurs. He has curated solo exhibitions with Gunilla Klingberg, Mike Nelson, Yangjiang Group, William Pope.L, Dan Graham, Carey Young, Liam Gillick, Joanne Tatham & Tom O’Sullivan, Nathan Coley and Bas Jan Ader. Curated projects include: ‘Painting Show’ (2011-12), Eastside Projects; Public Structures, Guang Zhou Triennial, China (2005); and ‘In the Midst of Things‘, Bournville (1999). Books include UPCYCLE THIS BOOK (2013) Sternberg; Has Man A Function In Universe? Book Works (2008); and The Interruptors: A Non-Simultaneous Novel, Article Press (2005).

About Eastside Projects
Eastside Projects (EP) is an exhibition space with many differences. It is a free, public space that is being imagined and organised by artists. EP commission and present experimental contemporary art exhibitions, and propose ways in which art may be useful to society. It is a questioning structure that in turn produces more questions and also, of course, possible answers. EP's ambition is to incorporate the methodologies of art-making at all scales and functions of the organisation.
