Visit Niamh O’Malley in her studio to discuss the relationship of the artist's publication Gather to the exhibition at the 59th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.
Niamh O’Malley is interested in how, in contrast to the exhibition, the book exists as a narrative form. She is drawn to the possibilities within a book to produce a parallel reading - through the deliberate sequencing of images, built-in pauses, as well as the opportunity to allow different types of language to effect and infiltrate.
Niamh O’Malley is Ireland’s representative at this year’s Venice Biennale 2022 with Temple Bar Gallery + Studios. Ireland at Venice will tour to The Model, Sligo, and Temple Bar Gallery + Studios in the spring of 2023.
This event takes place as part of Dublin Art Book Fair 2022: A Caring Matter, sponsored by Henry J Lyons and supported by Dublin UNESCO City of Literature.
