Encounters, Vol. 1: Ten years of writing inspired by art compiles ten of Ireland's most accomplished writers and poets responding to a decade of contemporary art exhibitions at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios
Join us in Studio 6, Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, at the launch of Encounters, Vol. 1: Ten years of writing inspired by art, a new book compiling the first decade of the TBG+S Writing Commission. To mark the occasion, Susan Tomaselli will moderate a series of encounters with contributors Sara Baume, Gavin Corbett and Ian Maleney, accompanied by readings from contributors Claire-Louise Bennett, Thomas Morris and Nidhi Zak/Aria Eipe.
To celebrate, copies of the book will be available to purchase at a reduced price of €20 and a wine reception is kindly sponsored by our neighbours at Fallon & Byrne.
This collection comprises thoughtful reflections, pithy abstractions, fantastical prose, and poetic forms which reflect a range of literary styles and approaches. The writing illustrates the many remarkable experiences and expressions that occur when visual art meets the written word, revealing a certain type of magic when creative disciplines meet.
With contributions by Sara Baume, Claire-Louise Bennett, Gavin Corbett, Nicole Flattery, Ian Maleney, Thomas Morris, Annemarie Ní Churreáin, Doireann Ní Ghríofa, Padraig Regan, Nidhi Zak/Aria Eipe, and a commissioned essay by Gustav Parker Hibbett.
The TBG+S Writing Commission is supported by The Arts Council of Ireland / An Chomhairle Ealaíon. The production of Encounters, Vol. 1: Ten years of writing inspired by art is generously Dublin UNESCO City of Literature.
