TBG+S/HIAP International Residency Exchange
The TBG+S/HIAP International Residency Exchange supports Irish artists and artists based in Ireland to spend three months in residency at HIAP - Helsinki International Artist Programme, in a live/work studio on the island of Suomenlinna in Helsinki. The Exchange supports Finnish artists to live in Dublin and work from a studio at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios.
Since the partnership began in 2007, TBG+S and HIAP have supported over twenty artists and curators from Ireland and Finland. Now a well-established opportunity, the TBG+S/HIAP International Residency Exchange fosters opportunities for artists to gain experience, build networks internationally, engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue with the HIAP community, research and make work in a new context.
The TBG+S/HIAP International Residency Exchange is supported by the Finnish Institute in the UK and Ireland.
'It was a privilege to participate in the HIAP residency. The programme provided time and space for the development of ideas and the production of work, while also fostering a supportive group dynamic with other residents and members of staff. My stay on the island was idyllic – the large studio enabled me to experiment on a more ambitious scale than I am normally able to, and to work on many ideas at once. The peaceful location was perfect for focusing on my practice, and the city is only 15 minutes away for supplies or for visiting galleries etc. The HIAP team were very supportive and organised regular meetings and events for the residents which created a lovely feeling of community. Overall, it was an incredible opportunity to live and make work in an amazing location for three months, and to make so many new friends.' - Caroline Doolin, HIAP International Residency recipient 2018
Deadline: Friday 10 November 2023, 5pm
