Moly-Sabata

The Moly-Sabata residency programme offers a two-month studio with accommodation facilities in Sablons, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France.

Temple Bar Gallery + Studios has been invited by Moly-Sabata, as a partner, to nominate visual artists for a two-month residency at their residency programme in Sablons, a riverside village of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

Moly-Sabata is the oldest active artist residency in France and one of seven missions of Fondation des Artistes to support artists. The residency offers spacious, light-filled work studios and a range of production facilities to a network of local, national and international partners providing opportunities to produce new artworks. Producing an annual Autumn exhibition alongside several off-site exhibitions and education projects, Moly-Sabata has been celebrated as a place for artistic hospitality since 1927.

The studio and living quarters are 55–110 sqm and as part of an 18th century estate, they overlook the Rhône or surrounding parklands. Surrounded by a small dedicated team of five people, each artist has access to on-site technical workshops for wood, metal and ceramics with four wood and electric kilns. Residents are further supported by a welcoming community of crafts people.

Nominated artists are asked to make a proposal for their residency that considers the opportunity undisturbed studio and production facilities access in a quiet residency alongside other local, national and international artists.
