Temple Bar Gallery + Studios’ new website and a publication by TBG+S Studio Artist, Chloe Brenan, have been selected for 100 Archive 2019.

The 100 Archive charts the past, present and future of Irish design by publishing 100 notable communication design projects, selected each year following an open call.

Our new website was designed by Karen Hanratty at Pixel Design in 2019, based on the TBG+S brand identity by Alex Synge, The First 47. Reflecting Temple Bar Gallery + Studios as a centre for creativity in Dublin City, the website communicates the range of artistic programmes we provide: exhibitions, public events, and opportunities for artists. The ambition was to show the gallery as a place for artists to thrive and as a means for everyone to freely experience contemporary art.

Chloe Brenan’s artist book Invisible Blows was commissioned by Temple Bar Gallery + Studios for Dublin Art Book Fair 2019, designed by David Joyce and published by The Outside Press.

Invisible Blows takes its title from a line in Lucretius' scientific poem 'On the Nature of Things' (c. 60 bc). It features a series of photographs depicting constellations of objects, bodies, plants, pharmaceuticals, debris, sites and materials. These assemblages are juxtaposed with words denoting units of measurement which range in scale from those that describe colossal distance and others that express notions of infinitesimal forces of energy. Such scales place us into strange dialogue with things other than human — the geologic, the subatomic, the microbial and mineral. Within this context, the image/texts intimate the interaction of multiple orders of magnitude that constitute the configurations of the everyday.

Invisible Blows by Chloe Brenan is available here, and will be available to purchase at Dublin Art Book Fair 2020: Design as an Attitude from 5 - 15 November 2020 at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios.
