Temple Bar Gallery + Studios and the Irish Film Institute presents a screening of Amie Siegel's film DDR/DDR. This film was selected by curator Megs Morley and artist Amie Siegel as part of her exhibition Imitation of Life at TBG+S running from 19 February to 2 April.

DDR/DDR explores the German Democratic Republic and the remnants of its collapse. The politics of representing such a complex past is explored through this multi-layered, beautiful film essay. Challenging the conventions of documentary and narrative film through a montage of staged and performed moments, archived Stasi surveillance footage and interviews with former citizens and agents, Siegel examines the relationship between the development of cinema, psychoanalysis and the Stasi’s surveillance of its citizens, creating a work that self-consciously connects the technology of state control and art.

Prior to this screening, artist Amie Siegel will participate in a free public conversation with curator Megs Morley at 5pm in Studio 6 at TBG+S. For more information please click here.
