Explore the current exhibition Lunula by Lucy Stein through slowing down to look at the artworks and experiment with mark making.
This event is for a small group so confirmation of attendance will be required by Thursday 09 April.
This informal conversation-based tour explores how we experience the art and how it makes us feel. Through giving extended time to look at a selection of artworks, the tour allows for a mindful space to experience and connect the art.
There will be time after to consider the work further through experimenting with mark making and colour. Reflect on different elements of the work, we have viewed though experimenting with colour and material in drawing. This session is not skill based but about taking time with the art and seeing through drawing.
This event is suitable for anyone new to or curious about contemporary art. No experience necessary. Materials supplied. It is a special private viewing out of gallery hours.
Lucy Stein’s paintings draw on feminine iconography from a wide range of sources including ancient Greek mythology, medieval and ecclesiastical illuminations. Stein also responds to her personal experiences as a mother and caregiver to represent a vision of womanhood throughout time. Connecting her former life in the west of Ireland with more recent years spent in rural Cornwall, Stein channels the inherent energies of the natural landscape that have inspired and been worshipped over millennia.
Event Location Information: Please meet at the gallery entrance for 11.30am. This event takes place in our ground floor street facing gallery. The room is naturally lit with paintings on the wall. Seating is provided. There will be access to a partially accessible bathroom. For further accessibility information contact Learning + Public Engagement Curator Órla Goodwin.
