Art + Writing Workshop: Nostalgia as Resistance
15 June 2026, 10am–1pm
An art writing workshop led by poet Chiamaka Enyi-Amadi in response to artist Rebecca Moccia’s current exhibition, Nostalgism.
10 June 2026, 6–7pm
A performative reading event and installation by visual artist Sorcha McNamara supported by Free Space at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios.
Reality is Quicksand will be a twenty-five minute performative reading by Sorcha McNamara, an open studio event set among a provisional, site-specific installation of materials and objects. As an alternative form of artist talk, Sorcha will perform a preface, prologue or prelude to 'The Echoing Silence', a 1962 speech by playwright Harold Pinter. In this way, she will discuss the methodologies and motivations of her own practice, alongside a reflection on the nature of how people communicate with each other. She will then read aloud from the speech itself. Audience members will be provided with a print-out copy of the text, and will be invited to sit around the room and read along, or to simply observe.
Sorcha McNamara is a visual artist. She uses found material to make contextually-sensitive compositions through painting, installation and sculptural work. With a particular attunement to existing conditions of site, space and situation, her practice navigates personal and conceptual tensions around craft, manipulation, agency and value.
Free Space at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios provides opportunities for artists to access space in the city for artist led peer learning, artist exchanges, project development and presentations.
Event location Information: This event will take place in a ground-floor space. Seating is available. For further accessibility information please contact Learning + Public Engagement Curator Órla Goodwin.
