Drawing Session: Off the Wall, Beyond Surface and Boundaries

24 February 2024, 10:30am–12:00pm

Take time to explore the current gallery exhibition Tugann an Torann by Anne Ryan through the act of drawing.

Experiment with slow observational drawing in the gallery before we open to the public. Echoing elements of the exhibition we will look at how the 'off the wall' paintings 'leap, dance, crash and tumble across the gallery space', and how the artist liberates the artworks from the confines of a frame, groups sculptures in free-standing constructions and creates a fragmented effect across walls. We will draw beyond the borders and surface of the page and look to our cinematic window view of city life for inspiration.

Beginning with a short introduction to the exhibition and some warm-up exercises, you will then be free to draw, and share if you wish.

Limited materials are supplied and you are free to bring your own. This is an adult workshop. No prior experience necessary.
