Architect Grainne Shaffrey and DCC Heritage Officer Charles Duggan will lead a tour of the Tenement Museum Dublin, as part of Dublin Art Book Fair: Art and Architecture Interwoven, sponsored by Henry J Lyons.
The newly-opened Tenement Museum focuses on the period from 1877 to the late 1970s, shining a light on the life of tenement dwellers in the North Inner City. Innovative, ground-breaking approaches to conservation have uncovered and recovered this magnificent house and its complex histories. The house, with its palimpsest of painted walls, is an artwork in time.
Charles Duggan is an art and architectural historian, Dublin City Council’s Heritage Officer, and project manager and co-ordinator of the conservation and establishment of the Tenement Museum at 14 Henrietta Street, Dublin.
Grainne Shaffrey is an architect in private practice. A principal in Shaffrey Associates Architects, her architectural work includes the reuse, adaptation and extension of existing buildings and the design of new buildings in historic settings.
