Roger Hudson will introduce his new book TAKING THE SCISSORS TO SOCIETY – The Photomontages of Roger Hudson. He will talk about how it came together, the process of exploring the techniques and possibilities of photomontage, the art form started by John Heartfield and Hannah Hoch in 1920s Germany.
The book covers his creations over the eighties, nineties, noughties and beyond of his very individual style, using cutting, tearing and templates to build a body of work that, as well as powerful images, comments, directly and indirectly on the changing society of the times he has lived through.
Alongside the images, his writing skills tell this fascinating story supplemented by relevant poems and examples of the templates he has used.
