Temple Bar Gallery + Studios is very saddened to hear of the passing of our former Director Marian Lovett.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Marian’s partner Shane, her children and her wider family.
Marian was Director at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios from 2001 – 2010.
She was deeply interested in contemporary art, the artists and working to support them. She shaped the gallery with style and introduced audiences to international artists, curating group exhibitions and solo shows. She enjoyed critical thinking and discourse around contemporary artistic practices. Many artists who have had studios here or exhibited in the gallery will have warm memories of Marian. She worked for a time with Jenny Haughton (also former Director of TBG+S) in her company Artworking Ltd., where together they were advocates for refreshing new possibilities for public art in different situations and contexts. This was perhaps the first consultancy agency in Ireland to undertake such work in visual arts policy, public art commissioning, facilitation and curation.
