Temple Bar Gallery + Studios announces recipients of the TBG+S/HIAP International Residency Exchange 2022

Miranda Blennerhassett will spend three months in residency at Helsinki International Artist Programme (HIAP) from February to May 2022. Blennerhassett is interested in the cultural role of pattern and decoration. Her current focus is on domestic textile crafts such as weaving, quilt-making, knitting and embroidery. In making her installations, Miranda is thinking about the relationship between architecture and ornament; between domestic space and institutional space; between the handmade and the mass produced; and about the gendered production of crafts and ownership of spaces. She is interested in an inclusive approach to creativity that is inviting to audiences through familiar patterns and materials, and the reassurance of repetition.

Jack Faber will spend two months in residency at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios from May to June 2022. Faber is a Helsinki-based filmmaker and artistic researcher at The Academy of Fine Arts, Uniarts Helsinki. He is a trans-disciplinary artist, specialising in the transgressions of moving images and film. Merging cinematic practice and artistic research, Jack focuses on narrative strategies, interspecies relations and cultural frameworks, and explores their boundaries. His body of expanded cinema and moving image works goes by the name SUB PACIFIC FILMS.

Since 2007, the TBG+S/HIAP International Residency Exchange has provided artists from Ireland and Finland with time, space, and support to create new work, and fostered dialogue, collaboration and international networking opportunities.
