Temple Bar Gallery + Studios and Bétonsalon are pleased to announce Colm Keady-Tabbal as the recipient of the TBG+S and Bétonsalon Dublin/Paris Residency Exchange 2026.

Temple Bar Gallery + Studios and Bétonsalon are pleased to announce Colm Keady-Tabbal as the inaugural Dublin recipient of the TBG+S and Bétonsalon Dublin/Paris Residency Exchange 2026, a new opportunity in partnership with the Embassy of France in Ireland, Dublin City Council and the Embassy of Ireland, France. This residency exchange is an annual award that supports a visual artist living or working in Dublin to spend two months, October and November 2026, in Paris at Couvent des Récollets, courtesy of Bétonsalon, Paris. An artist living or working in France is supported to spend two months living in Dublin to work from a studio at TBG+S. Alexandre Caretti (FR) and Colm Keady-Tabbal (IE/LB) are the 2026 recipient artists for the TBG+S and Bétonsalon Dublin/Paris Residency Exchange 2026.

This two-month Paris residency is hosted by Bétonsalon and accommodated in Couvent des Récollets and funded by Dublin City Council and the Embassy of France Ireland. It will provide Colm Keady-Tabbal with a timely opportunity to develop new research and engage with a number of archives and institutions relevant to their practice. Colm's research undertaken during their residency will take Claude Lévi-Strauss’s 1952 UNESCO seminar as a starting point to examine how information theory, cybernetics and mathematical methods entered the French human sciences in the postwar period. The residency will expand their work examining the convergence of industrial and defence research with the fields of architecture and aesthetic production.

“I'm interested in thinking about the funding structures and models of patronage underpinning the convergence of information theory and cybernetics developed in United States industrial and defence contexts with postwar French thought in the fields of linguistics, anthropology, psychoanalysis and architecture. Bernard Dionysus Geoghegan’s study of these subjects have pointed me towards many archives of interest in Paris that I look forward to engaging with. I am also looking forward to spending a lot of time walking around.”

Engaging with Bétonsalon, its programme and its wider network of artists, curators, researchers will make this residency a particularly relevant context for this period of Colm Keady-Tabbal's work.

Colm Keady-Tabbal (b. 1999) is an Irish-Lebanese artist living and working between Dublin and New York. Operating through a range of media and activities, their work addresses legacies of advanced modernism, memorialisation, propaganda and other forms of knowledge production.
