Temple Bar Gallery + Studios is pleased to announce that Eve O’Callaghan is the recipient of the Recent Graduate Residency 2019.
We look forward to working with Eve throughout the coming year and to support her in developing her practice within the creative community of professional artists working in our studios.
Eve O’Callaghan’s paintings consider the basic properties of paint, pigment and surface and how these things combine to create an image and object that relates to a wider history of painting. Her recent work consists of painted wooden panels connected by hinges in a way that is reminiscent of religious polyptych paintings. Combining colour-blocking and pencil drawings in a double-sided format away from the gallery wall, the works draw upon museum and gallery display of archival and readable information in the context of contemporary painting.
Eve O’Callaghan graduated from NCAD Fine Art Painting and Visual Culture BA in 2017. She has been shortlisted for several important award exhibitions including the Hennessy Craig Award, RHA, Dublin (2019) and RDS Visual Art Award, Dublin (2017). She was the RHA School Peer Residency 2017-2018. Her work has also been exhibited at Pallas Projects, Dublin (2019), Draoicht, Dublin (2018), and RHA Annual, Dublin (2018, 2019).
