Claire-Louise Bennett

Claire-Louise Bennett, TBG+S Writer 2016, is an author from Wiltshire in the southwest of England.

After studying literature and drama at the University of Roehampton in London, Claire-Louise Bennett settled in Galway.

Her short fiction and essays have featured in many publications, including gorse, The White Review, Harper's Magazine, The New York Times, frieze, Artforum, and Vogue Italia. She was awarded the inaugural White Review Short Story Prize in 2013 and was shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize in 2016. She has received bursaries from the Arts Council of Ireland and Galway City Council. Her debut book, Pond, was published by The Stinging Fly (Ireland) and Fitzcarraldo Editions (UK) in 2015, and Riverhead (US) in 2016. It has been translated into ten languages.

Claire-Louise's very short book about a surrealist portrait painting will be published in Spring 2020 by Juxta Press as part of their Words for Pictures series.
