14 — 21 April 2024, 5–6:30pm
A free two-part art writing workshop led by writer Nicole Flattery in response to Lisa Freeman's exhibition Approx 1 Second of a Sweet Kiss.
Monday 15 + 22 April, 5pm - 6.30pm
There are a very limited number of spaces for this workshop and so we ask that participants are fully committed to attending both sessions.
Young Art Writers is designed for anyone age 18 – 25 with an interest in art and writing, or who would like to be introduced to this area. We are delighted to have writer Nicole Flattery facilitate the workshop. Over two sessions participants will discuss and experiment with writing in relation to the current gallery exhibition Lisa Freeman's Approx 1 Second of a Sweet Kiss. Central to this is the idea that everyone is capable of writing about art that draws them in - whether their response is critical, fictional or grounded in non-fiction.
Young Art Writers is an ongoing gallery-based workshop series at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios. It explores different aspects of writing in relation to visual art through workshops led by writers, artists and curators with a writing practice. The workshops adopt a shared learning and explorative approach as opposed to taught or critique-based sessions. No experience is necessary and all levels of writing ability are welcome.
Nicole Flattery’s debut novel Nothing Special, published in 2023. An Irish author, known for her short stories including the story collection Show Them A Good Time.
