Please join us for the launch of Temple Bar Gallery + Studios 2024 Artistic Programme.

The exhibition artists will be announced alongside the details of studio opportunities throughout the year and Learning + Public Engagement programmes at TBG+S. There will be a reading by TBG+S Commissioned Writer in 2024 Nidhi Zak/Aria Eipe and light refreshments will be provided on the evening.

Clíodhna Shaffrey, Temple Bar Gallery + Studios Director, welcomes this year’s programme with:

As we enter 2024, it’s impossible not to feel sadness for all that is going on in the world. Hostility, war, atrocities – multiple and unfathomable. Complex histories calculate the same results. War begets war and divisiveness begets division. We ask for peace, we pray for peace, we protest for peace. It’s hard to write these words while looking forward to the year ahead. Yet, we are the lucky ones. We get to write our plans and publish a programme, believing art matters and what artists create gives something inexplicable, even hope.
Five solo exhibitions are programmed across the year, including TBG+S Studio Artists and Irish artists living abroad, who have gained considerable international reputation, and in some cases, not exhibited in Ireland for several years. Threads of connection across these distinct exhibitions hint at journeys, movement, displacement, and longing.

Please RSVP to confirm your attendance. Entry to the programme launch will be through the gallery and the current exhibition Tugann an Torann by Anne Ryan.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Image description: Several colourfully painted cut-out female figures in various poses are placed on a dark grey window sill. The figures are painted abstractly in hues of blue, red, pink, and green and are detailed with a pink or purple outline. In the background, through the window there is a streetscape with blurred figures walking by.
