13 — 16 November 2024
TBG+S Studio Artist Ella Bertilsson hosts NAIL IT, a pop-up nail salon, through a hole in the wall of Temple Bar Gallery + Studios.
27 July 2024, 11:15am
An introduction to artist Vanessa Daws practice followed by an opportunity contribute to Shoal, a large wall-based artwork.
This is an adult workshop, no experience is necessary. Old or protective clothing recommended.
Learn how the artist works with clay and create a small work that will become part of Shoal, a large-scale ceramic artwork.
Artist Vanessa Daws will give a short introduction to her practice followed by a brief conversation about the fish native to the surrounding waters of Dublin Bay. With the support of the artist and potter Dylan Clucas, workshop participants will design and create their own clay fish using hand building techniques. At the end of the workshop Vanessa and Dylan will take your fish away to be glazed and fired. The fish will then become part of a shoal of fish following a swimmer in the artwork, Shoal.
Shoal is a wall-based ceramic artwork that will explore and celebrate sea creatures and fish that live in Dublin Bay. The work will consist of around 400 small ceramic fish made in art workshops that will come together to create one huge shoal on the walls of the Cube Gallery, as part of an exhibition by Vanesa Daws at the LAB Gallery in September 2024.
Meet at the orange cabin at the entrance to The Pumphouse, Alexandra Road, Dublin Port at 11:15am. Alternatively you can walk from The Point Luas stop at 11am with a member of staff.
This is a free event, booking essential as spaces are limited. You will be asked to confirm your attendance in order to hold your booking, the week of the event.
