Exhibiting artist Liliane Puthod and TBG+S Programme Curator Michael Hill discuss the the making of the exhibition Beep Beep.
Join Liliane Puthod and Michael Hill for an informal talk offering insight into the planning, research and processes behind the exhibition Beep Beep at The Pumphouse, Dublin Port.
Beep Beep is a large-scale immersive artwork at The Pumphouse, Dublin Port, that consolidates Puthod's research on handmade and mechanised production, commodity fetishism, and the archaeology of consumerism. For this exhibition, Puthod has reanimated her late father’s 1960s Renault 4 (R4) from its dusty shed in her hometown of Reignier, France, documenting its journey to Ireland. Puthod has created chambers within shipping containers where the R4 is placed amongst 'grave goods' such as custom-fabricated parts and decals. Discreet mementos from its epic journey across France are stashed in the glove box and dangle from the windshield.
This talk is for graduates, early career and emerging contemporary artists and curators, and those returning to their practice.
Liliane Puthod’s recent exhibitions, projects and commissions include: Hugh Lane Gallery, Dublin (2023); Solstice Arts Centre, Navan (2023); Skerries Art Trail, Fingal (2023); IMMA, Dublin (2022); VISUAL, Carlow (2021); Golden Thread Gallery, Belfast (2020); Pallas Projects Studios, Dublin (2019).
Beep Beep is part of Longest Way Round, Shortest Way Home, two off-site solo exhibitions by Yuri Pattison and Liliane Puthod at The Pumphouse, Dublin Port. The exhibitions are produced and curated by Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, in partnership with Dublin Port Company.
Event location Information: This event is at The Pumphouse, Alexandra Road, Dublin Port. There are public transport links with Dublin Bus and Luas (Red Line), as well as on-site parking. For further access information please contact Learning + Public Engagement Curator Orla Goodwin.
