Join artist and educator Louis Haugh as he introduces the zine There's no such thing as a house plant, and by the way nature is super Queer.
There's no such thing as a house plant, and by the way nature is super Queer is the first zine from The Balcony Project, a queer ecologies research group based on the balcony of Project Arts Centre, founded by artist & educator Louis Haugh in 2024. Louis Haugh will be joined by other creatives and participants of the project for this public launch. There will be zines, there will be talking and there will be a sharing of communally made Fire Cider, a 0% winter tonic to support your immune system while fighting fascism, patriarchal oppression and late stage capitalism.
An accompanying zine making workshop before the launch will be hosted by the zine designer Mel Galley. Book here.
Louis Haugh is an artist and educator who makes work through social engagement and public collaborations. His work explores queer ecology and land identities using forms of play, photographic production, text, and self publishing, examining how communities relate to their environments through embodied practices.
The Balcony Project is an ongoing socially engaged art project, committed to the research of queer ecologies; a way of thinking about nature, place, and identity that challenges norms and offers alternative forms of coexistence in the world. Founded by visual artist Louis Haugh in 2024, the project is part of an ongoing series of socially engaged collaborations between Louis and Project Arts Centre, which began in 2022.
