The second of two tours spotlighting a selection of the submitted artist books at this year's Dublin Art Book Fair led by TBG+S Gallery + Studio Coordinator Anna Maye.
Join TBG+S Gallery + Studio Coordinator Anna Maye for a short tour of this year's artist books at Dublin Art Book Fair (DABF). Anna will share her insight into the story and making behind a selection of the publications from the artist's perspectives. The tour will spotlight a selection of submitted artist books and will touch upon themes such as subject matter, material, formatting and the approaches taken by artists in creating their publication.
This year there were over 220 artist books submissions from Ireland and abroad. The artist book section at DABF features books made by contemporary artists, designers, art writers and others, who experiment in a myriad of ways with the medium of the book and its potential for artistic expression.
Dublin Art Book Fair is Ireland’s leading art book fair and centre for artist books. Taking place in Temple Bar Gallery + Studios over ten days, DABF champions small, creative and independent publishers, both Irish and international and artist books.
This event takes place as part of Dublin Art Book Fair 2023: Polyphonic, sponsored by Henry J Lyons and supported by Dublin UNESCO City of Literature.
Image description: A person is standing facing the camera in a book fair in front of a table full of publications. They have curly dark brown hair; wear eyeglasses, a brown facemask, and a long yellow and black checkered coat; and are intently reading the back of a book. The title on the front of the book is partly obscured by their fingers and reads ‘Slow Painting’ in white text. The cover of the book displays a painting of a man reading in the bath. In the background there is a bookshelf with four books in different colours.
