On the occasion of Music Currents Festival, TBG+S Studio Artist Jaki Irvine presents SHHh...Ow...emmM, an audio visual performance with Izumi Kimura, Joe O'Farrell, Sarah Grimes and Cora Venus Lunny.
This event is free, booking is advised.
SHHh...Ow...emmM is a month-long multifaceted project by visual artist Jaki Irvine, that will involve video development, music performances and installations, and which will culminate in an installation and collaborative performance at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill-on-Sea, Sussex, later this year. In this partially devised improvised audio-visual music performance Jaki projects and manipulates her video works in realtime to create a 'live score' for the musicians.
"This unique experimental work weaves real-life video, digital animation, and live music improvisation into an evolving, interactive score. Inspired by the classic tune “Show Me the Way to Go Home” (iconically remembered from Jaws), this collaborative improvisation between visuals and sound offers an unforgettable immersive experience."

Jaki Irvine is a renowned Irish artist celebrated for her innovative and interdisciplinary practice, which spans video, sound, writing, and installation. A current studio artist at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, Irvine is known for her ability to weave intricate narratives that explore themes of memory, history, language, and human relationships. Her work often combines the personal with the political, creating immersive, multi-sensory experiences that challenge and engage audiences. Whether in single-screen format or in more complex installations, Irvine creates open-ended narratives in which image and musical score overlap, coalesce and diverge. Moving between overt musicality and the edges where a sound begins or ends, Irvine focuses on the rigours and pleasures of editing, of playing an instrument, bringing together the private space of practice with the possibilities of performance it anticipates. Over the years, she has exhibited widely, earning recognition for her distinctive visual style and thought-provoking conceptual frameworks.
SHHh...Ow...emmM is produced in partnership with Music Currents Festival and Dublin Sound Lab.
