Ruth E Lyons works primarily in large-scale sculpture and the creation of public works that intervene in landscape. With a particular interest in landscape and deep time, her work is inspired by the spectrum of human engagement with landscape throughout history and the incredible forms that this has resulted in from megalithic monuments to the underground cavities of contemporary mines. Often taking an anthropological perspective Ruth E Lyons considers what these constructed forms might say about the spiritual dimension of people. She is interested in creating works that reach new and incidental audiences, can endure and resonate over time.
