Ramon Kassam is an Irish artist based in Co. Kilkenny. Paintings form the basis of his practice. Painting in the third person, his works relate to one another through an invented narrative of artistic activity that indulges with the themes of Studio, Landscape and Environment. The aesthetic of his work is influenced by the painted fabric of the Irish built environment and his appreciation for modernist painting languages. Blocks of colour and form are haphazardly combined to create visual arrangements and narratives. Canvases are often cropped, flipped, glued, and can incorporate various studio materials such as tape, photographs, paper, wood, tacks, etc.

Ramon Kassam is a graduate of LSAD. Solo exhibitions include Study for a Studio by the Sea, Green on Red Gallery Dublin 2018, and Gallery at Limerick City Gallery of Art, 2015. He has also participated in group shows at Edythe Broad Art Museum Michigan USA, The Lewis Glucksman Gallery Cork, EVA International Limerick. He has received a number of awards and residencies. These include The Next Generation and Visual Artist Bursary Awards from the Arts Council of Ireland, and residencies with Askeaton Contemporary Arts, The Embassy of Ireland Addis Ababa, The RHA Tony O’ Malley Residency and Irish Museum of Modern Art.
