Ella Bertilsson
Ella Bertilsson’s practice explores sensory and visceral experiences that reflect life transitions, escapism and mental health through thoughts, emotions, memories, and the body. By building trust and solidarity between subject matter and viewer, her work articulates anxieties embedded in the personal and collective psyche. Audiences are invited to engage with installations and performances that incorporate dark humour, magical realism, and absurdity through staged realms. Dream-like states, symbolic imagery, and unexpected moments in everyday life are explored to reveal hidden narratives that blur the line between the ordinary and extraordinary, while examining events that shape character and define identity. Moving between the personal and universal, Bertilsson’s practice draws on dadaist and absurdist traditions, to form a contemporary view on the human condition.
