Alan Butler's work explores the materiality and cultural mythologies of digital technologies.
Alan Butler lives and works in Dublin, Ireland. Butler has exhibited at Transmediale at Akademie der Künste, Berlin (2023); The Photographers’ Gallery, London (2022); Architekturzentrum Wien, Austria (2022); Fotomuseum Winterthur, Switzerland (2021); BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, (2019). In 2021, as part of the collective ANNEX he represented Ireland in the 17th Venice Biennale of Architecture, and his permanent public sculpture 'Smithfield Utah' was unveiled by Dublin City Council.
His work is represented by Green on Red Gallery, Dublin; and Galerie Conrads, Berlin
