Aileen Murphy
Aileen Murphy approaches painting and its history with care and a playfully disobedient spirit. Her paintings, drawings, and collages explore the body, humour, psychological states, and fantastical imagery. She layers motifs, forms, and techniques in ways that blur boundaries between figuration and abstraction. Embracing both structure and improvisation, she allows materials, imagery, and references to interact in shifting and unexpected ways. Through this approach, her work invites multiple interpretations. Fantasy and subtle unease coexist; transformation is looming and exuberance prevails.
