Further Information

Dublin Art Book Fair 2017, Ireland’s only art book fair, returns to Temple Bar Gallery + Studios from 23rd to 26th November, sponsored by Henry J Lyons.

With the theme of Art and Architecture Interwoven, the gallery will be filled with books on art, architecture and related subjects from select Irish and international publishers, limited editions and more unusual and difficult-to-find artists’ and architects’ books.

A selection of Ireland’s leading architects and artists have been invited to recommend books and publications inspiring to their practice. Interweaving art and architecture to engage diverse audiences, the focus is on the interdisciplinary aspects of these distinct disciplines, their contingencies and overlaps, as well as their explicitly divergent natures.

Dublin Art Book Fair launches at 6pm on Thursday 23rd. Interwoven, a specially commissioned artwork for the Fair, and a limited edition print by artist Caoimhe Kilfeather will be unveiled. The film Library by Susan MacWilliam will be shown for the duration of the Fair.

Highlights of the programme of events include The Egyptian Postures, a performative lecture and archive presentation by Padraic E. Moore and Ian Whittlesea, a panel discussion on the interaction between art and architecture, chaired by Hugh Campbell and including, amongst others, Shelly McNamara (Grafton Architects) and Niamh O’Malley (artist); a tour of the newly-opened Tenement Museum on Henrietta Street, a screening of Wim Wenders’ influential film Wings of Desire and, a book-binding workshop with Read That Image. All of the events are free but booking is essential as places are sure to book up fast.

A pop-up café by The Market Kitchen with their delicious healthy treats, adds to the relaxed and special atmosphere of Dublin Art Book Fair. The Fair brings together a unique combination of specialist books and publishers and includes leading participants and organisations from the Irish arts and architecture world, making it a must-visit event.
