Born in Dublin, raised between Czech Republic and Ireland. Julia Dubsky is the 2017 TBG+S Recent Graduate Residency recipient. Her work takes the form of paintings about painting - in tandem with travels and critical reflections.
Julia received a BA in Fine Art Painting and Visual Culture from the National College of Art and Design in 2016, having studied at Hochschule für Graphic und Buchkunst, Leipzig, on Erasmus. Julia since completed a ten week course at the The Royal Drawing School in London and worked from a studio in HB55, Berlin, before returning to Ireland recently.
Selected exhibitions and travel awards include: IFA (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) funding to undertake project in Iran (2017), NCAD Graduate Showcase, Dublin (2016); Mainie Jellett Travel Bursary (2016), PERMANENT LAKE, NCAD project space, Dublin (2015), FREMD, Grassi Museum, Leipzig, Germany (2016); No Future/No Past, Institut für Zukunft, Leipzig, Germany (2015) and Ce leis é?, NCAD Gallery, Dublin (2014), Thomas Dammann Junior Memorial Trust Artist Travel Award (2013). Her work is in the state art collection.
