TBG+S/HIAP International Residency Exchange
The TBG+S/HIAP International Residency Exchange supports visual artists based in Ireland or Irish artists living abroad to spend three months in residency at HIAP - Helsinki International Artist Programme, in a live/work studio on the island of Suomenlinna, Helsinki. The exchange also supports Finnish artists to live in Dublin and work from a studio at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios.
Since the partnership began in 2007, TBG+S and HIAP have supported over twenty artists and curators from Ireland and Finland. Now a well-established opportunity, the TBG+S/HIAP International Residency Exchange fosters opportunities for artists to gain experience, build networks internationally, engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue with the HIAP community, research and make work in a new context.
The TBG+S/HIAP International Residency Exchange is supported by the Finnish Institute, UK + Ireland.
Thank you to TBG+S and HIAP for a wonderful residency opportunity. The live/work apartment and generous financial support provided me with the space and time to conduct site-specific research towards a new body of work, with the warm support of the team at HIAP. The frequent social events, meetings and gallery visits organised by HIAP created a great sense of community. I was able to engage with other practices and disciplines and form new professional relationships. The Open Studios event allowed me to test out work in a new context and engage with wider audiences. Overall the residency was an exciting and rewarding experience that has greatly benefitted my artistic practice. - Blaine O'Donnell, HIAP International Residency recipient 2023
