Temple Bar Gallery + Studios is delighted to announce artist Annaliisa Krage as recipient of the 2019 HIAP/TBG+S Residency.
Annaliisa Krage will spend May & June 2019 working from a studio at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios. Annaliisa's residency in Dublin will be based around production of a new body of work for her upcoming group exhibition in Atelierhaus im Anscharpark, Kiel, a solo show in Galerie Pleiku, Berlin and on an artist’s book that will be published in Helsinki in 2020.
Annaliisa Krage is a visual artist working with painting, which takes the form of classical tableau-painting, painted objects and architectural elements. Her work stems from the application and reflection of art-historical works and techniques especially from the field of painting. She is interested in the gap that seems to appear between artworks and oneself when trying to look more closely.
Krage obtained an MFA from Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design Kiel, in 2019 and now lives in Espoo, Finland.
In addition to her individual work, Krage works collectively as part of Duo Malin Henrik, Projekt Élan Kiel and BE/LA, a collaboration between German and Pakistani young artists.
Talks + Events: Wednesday 19 June 2019 6 - 8pm
Annaliisa Krage will open her studio for an informal discussion on her residency in Dublin, and how she has used the studio at TBG+S to develop a new body of work.
This event will coincide with Making Connections: Late View, a special late opening of our current exhibition staring forms.
Temple Bar Gallery+ Studios and HIAP (Helsinki International Artist Programme) are now in their twelfth year of partnership. Since the partnership began in 2007, TBG+S and HIAP have supported over twenty artists and curators from Ireland and Finland to undertake new creative work in the cities of Dublin and Helsinki through the exchange programme. Now a well-established opportunity, the TBG+S and HIAP exchange fosters opportunities for Irish artists to gain experience, build networks internationally and engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue with the HIAP community.
