Open Call: International Studio & Curatorial Program Residency 2023, New York

Temple Bar Gallery + Studios and International Studio & Curatorial Program are pleased to announce an open call for a funded residency in New York, supporting living and materials costs for visual artists. The residency includes 24-hour access to a private furnished studio space; studio visits from visiting critics and art world professionals; field trips to museums, galleries and other cultural venues; participation in artist talks and ISCP’s Open Studios event. This is an opportunity to live and work in New York City for three months where participants will have further opportunity to network, meeting international artists and curators.

The TBG+S/ISCP Residency supports an Irish or Ireland-based artist to spend three months in residency at ISCP in Brooklyn, New York. Housed in a former factory in Brooklyn, with 35 light-filled work studios and two galleries, ISCP is New York’s most comprehensive international visual arts residency programme.

"I am so grateful for the 3 month ISCP residency award bestowed by Temple Bar Gallery + Studios this year. The NYC residency came at the most opportune time in my practice. I tried to get a temperature read of where my career should go following a series of intense projects. I had the privilege of time and space to disseminate my practice through studio visits and meetings and to percolate ideas and, indeed, dilemmas with international peers. These moments are rare pauses and, yet, necessary to position oneself within the larger international conversations on visual culture. I feel I will benefit enormously from this time, the exposure to some incredible art encounters in New York, and the meaningful connections I made there with fellow artists, academics, writers, archivists and cultural practitioners."

Residents become part of a growing network of international artists and curators who are ISCP alumni. An ISCP residency has often led to critical advancement in the practice of the artist and curators in residence. All artists based in Ireland and Irish artists based abroad are eligible to apply for the International Studio & Curatorial Program Residency.
