Temple Bar Gallery + Studio presents Dublin Art Book Fair 2024

03 October 2024

Dublin Art Book Fair (DABF) opens at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, 21 November–1 December 2024 where Guest Curator Adrian Duncan will introduce his theme Fictions: The makings of other worlds.

Duncan’s theme considers different ways stories can be told; the images, spaces, objects, figures, feelings that emerge while doing so; and the sorts of truths they propose. The theme is explored through a selection of curated book titles and an accompanying event programme of talks, readings and screenings with invited practitioners from visual arts, literature and journalism.

The programme includes events from Duncan’s invited guests Peter Geoghegan, Sean Lynch, Susan McKay and Nidhi Zak/Aria Eipe. The full programme for DABF24 will be announced Tuesday 5 November. All events are free, booking is essential.

Since 2010, DABF has been a centre for the artist book, celebrating the medium’s expansive cultural and material history. Alongside Duncan’s curated titles, the Fair will feature hundreds of limited edition books made by contemporary artists and designers. DABF champions creative, small and independent publishers, both Irish and international. It includes newly published and unusual publications on art, design, visual culture, philosophy, architecture, select literature and poetry which are available to purchase throughout the Fair.

Adrian Duncan is an Irish artist, writer and an editor with PVA Books. His latest novel The Geometer Lobachevsky was shortlisted for the Walter Scott Prize in 2023. His next novel, The Gorgeous Inertia of the Earth will be published in January 2025 with Tuskar Rock Press. His films have screened at IFFR, Karlovy Vary IFF, HotDocs, and IDFA, among others. His forthcoming film on Fascist-era architecture in Italy is called Latina, Latina. This was an Arts Council Reel-Art-funded project and is due in early 2025.

Dublin Art Book Fair is proudly sponsored by Henry J Lyons and supported by Dublin UNESCO City of Literature.
