Temple Bar Gallery + Studios Recent Graduate Residency recipient announced

09 January 2015

Temple Bar Gallery + Studios (TBG+S) is pleased to announce that the recipient of its 2015 Recent Graduate Residency is Hannah Fitz.

The TBG+S Recent Graduate Residency is a professional development opportunity aimed at recent graduate artists in Ireland. Now in its second year, the residency offers a 12 month studio at TBG+S with added professional development supports. The 2014 recipient of the Residency was Conor Mary Foy. Hannah Fitz will take up residency in studio 16 in mid February, and Temple Bar Gallery + studios are very much looking forward to welcoming her.

The residency provides a large free studio for one year, in addition to a €1,000 stipend, €500 international travel bursary and a variety of institutional supports including mentoring and a programme of curators’ visits. The purpose of the Recent Graduate Residency is to assist graduate artists in focussing their studio practices at this crucial point in their careers. It is also to encourage more emergent artists to develop their practices within the creative community of TBG+S and among the professional artists who work in the TBG+S building

Hannah Fitz was selected for the residency following an open call, by a five person panel, on the basis of her strong and confident emerging practice and her clear articulation of how she would benefit from the opportunity.

Hannah Fitz was born in 1989 and graduated from Sculpture at NCAD in 2012. She has been involved in the running of the artist run collective Basic Space since it's beginnings in 2009, working on experimental and collaborative forms of practice and exhibition. She stepped down from the position as director of Basic Space in August 2014 to focus solely on her personal practice.
