TBG+S/Art & Process (MA:AP) Graduate Residency Award 2014

02 September 2014

Temple Bar Gallery + Studios and Art & Process (MA), Crawford College of Art and Design CIT are delighted to announce that Maire O’Mahony is this year’s recipient of the TBG+S/MA:AP Graduate Residency Award 2014.

This month-long residency allows one selected artist to work from a studio at TBG+S and it is aimed specifically at artists who have graduated from MA:AP in the last 3 years.

The residency aims to assist artists who have been based in Cork to spend a focused period of time living and working in Dublin, developing their practice further and creating new networks and connections at this crucial point in their careers. As well as receiving a free studio at TBG+S for the duration of 1 month, (September 2014) accommodation is subsidised for the month.

TBG+S are looking forward to working with Maire O’Mahony. The residency will culminate in a public studio event at the end of September 2014.

Maire O’Mahony, this year’s recipient is based in Cork and completed an MA (Hons) in Art and Process at The Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork in 2013. She has exhibited in group shows both here and abroad and is a founder member of artists group Scissors/Cuts/Paper. She was recipient of Cork City Council Artists Bursary in 2011. Her practice is process based and begins as a phenomenological response to the embodied subject, the intention behind artistic gesture and its material realisation; denoting a latent energy that is excited by pathetic materials and abject scenarios.
