Four artists awarded Project Studios at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios

07 December 2017

Temple Bar Gallery + Studios is delighted to announce four artists who have been awarded studio spaces at TBG+S. Project Studios have been awarded to artists Aisling McCoy, Alice Rekab, Myrid Carten and Tamsin Snow for the year 2018.

Project Studios offer a one year tenure and are generally awarded to artists at an earlier point in their career. Each year, TBG+S provides excellent workspaces for thirty artists to work in Dublin city. The work made in the studios often goes on to be exhibited throughout the world. As well as studio space, TBG+S offers the artists professional development opportunities such as studio visits from international visiting curators and artists. TBG+S is delighted to welcome all four artists and looks forward to supporting them to make ambitious new work in 2018.

The new artist members were awarded their studios by a selection panel, following an open submission application process which took place in October 2017. This year, the selection panel for studio membership consisted of Rayne Booth (Programme Curator, TBG+S), ClĂodhna Shaffrey (Director, TBG+S), Marie-Anne McQuay (Head of Programme, Bluecoat) and Alan Phelan (TBG+S Studio Member).

A celebration of the 2017 Project Studio artists Vanessa Daws, Kathy Tynan, Marcel Vidal, Tanad Williams and Andreas Kindler von Knobloch takes place at TBG+S on Thursday 14 December at 6pm. In the first event of its kind at TBG+S, Vanessa Daws and Kathy Tynan will open their studios to the public and a new site-specific sculptural work by Marcel Vidal and a permanent intervention by Tanad Williams and Andreas Kindler von Knobloch will be unveiled in the building’s Atrium Space.

These five artists have worked from studios at TBG+S for the past year, contributing considerably to the creative community. For more information on the event, please click here.
