This workshop will take Hannah Fitz’s exhibition Knock Knock as a point for exploration and creativity. The playful sculptures presented in the gallery include objects that look like everyday furnishings and household objects that appear to come to life, alongside strange headless figures trying to get into clothes. In this workshop we will ask ourselves questions such as: What would your furniture say to you if it could speak? How do household objects and materials connect with each other? How do we connect with materials? We will explore our ideas through discussion and by creating our own sculptural domestic objects, that appear familiar, yet somehow don’t fulfil their expectations.
This event has been developed by Learning + Public Engagement Curator Katy Fitzpatrick, Professor of Philosophy of Education Dr Aislinn O’Donnell, Philosopher Rob Grant and visual artist Clare Breen.
