As part of Dublin Art Book Fair: Art and Architecture Interwoven, sponsored by Henry J Lyons, architect Roisin Heneghan will lead a tour through the extension and refurbishment of the National Gallery of Ireland. The tour will culminate in her favourite work of art in the collection. In her footsteps, DABF curator and designer Oonagh Young, will lead the tour to her pick of the NGI collection.
In June, the National Gallery of Ireland reopened to the public following a period of extensive refurbishment and modernisation of its historic wings on Merrion Square. This multimillion-euro refurbishment project was carried out by the Office of Public Works’ Project Management Services, with architects Heneghan Peng as the Design Team Leaders.
The beautifully transformed spaces in the Dargan and Milltown Wings opened with an entirely new presentation of the celebrated permanent collection featuring master paintings by Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Ruisdael, Vermeer, Gainsborough, Goya, Monet, Gris and Picasso. The Gallery also displays its prestigious collection of Irish art with works by Daniel Maclise, RodericO’Conor, John Lavery, William Orpen, Seán Keating, Gerard Dillon, Evie Hone, Norah McGuinness, Jack B. Yeats, Louis le Brocquy and William Scott.
Róisín Heneghan co-founded heneghan peng architects with Shih-Fu Peng in New York in 1999. heneghan peng architects take a multi-disciplinary approach to design and have collaborated with many leading designers and engineers on a range of projects which include larger scale urban masterplans, bridges, landscapes and buildings.

With a focus on solo and experimental group projects by Irish and international artist, her gallery has gained a strong reputation. Oonagh Young is commissioned to curate Dublin Art Book Fair: Art and Architecture Interwoven.
