Axis-Access
The Axis-Access project is a programme designed for secondary schools
and portfolio preparation colleges. It aims to introduce students to a
range of subjects, issues and debates that artists use and respond to
as the subject of their art.
The Axis-Access project involves art teachers and their students in an
extended conversation about the visual arts.
The project happens in stages:
- Our outreach officer visits the students in their classroom. Slides
of various work exhibited in the gallery are shown, allowing the students
to ask questions to the mediator and to discuss the different issues
and response that are provoked by the artwork.
- A guided tour in the gallery and the building is organised for the
teacher and the students. This is followed by 2 studio visits where
the students will encounter artists working in the building. This encourages
the students to exchange ideas with each other and sharing their interpretations
and analysis of the artwork.
- After the visit, the students are asked to formulate a visual or written
response to the project.
The Axis-Access project is a great opportunity for students wishing to
know more about Irish and International contemporary art. It also aims
to develop the student's communication skills, orally, critically and
visually and expand the approach they take to art in school.

Sound Workshop at Volume III - Cliona Harmey, Alan Butler
This workshop was an introduction to sound recording and aims to develop an awareness of the creative possibilities of sound recording and digital manipulation of sound.

“Make Your Mark” is a collaborative project between East Wall Youth North Port Development group and Temple Bar Gallery & Studios and is led by visual artist Paula Barrett and graffiti artist Tom McDonald.

“Playing with shadows to create stories”
This puppet making workshop was facilitated by Irish artist Clodagh Emoe along with her exhibition, which took place in TBG&S in March 2006.

A body of work was produced by the students of Sallynoggin College of Art & Design and as part of TBG&S outreach programme. The workshop was facilitated by Roisin Lewis who was also one of the participant of the “Square Root of Drawing” exhibition which took place in 2006.
Inspired by the exhibition in the gallery, the students were asked to produce a drawing on a square format and using a view finder as a focus point.

This collaborative photographic project between TBG&S and Spirasi took place along with Zineb Sedira’s exhibition named “Saphir”. Coming all from different backgrounds, participants were encouraged to capture and document their daily experiences, feelings and reflections on their life in Dublin.
