'In
Conversation with Mick O'Kelly'
11.00am Friday 25th February Main Gallery Space Temple Bar Gallery and Studios presents 'In Conversation with Mick O'Kelly', at 11.00am on Friday 25th February in the main gallery space. Mick O'Kelly will discuss the concept behind his unique and innovative project 'An Artwork for an Imperfect World', a socially-engaged art project offering hospitality to the homeless over twelve consecutive evenings, 7pm - 9pm, 21st February - 4 March. 'An Artwork for an Imperfect World' is an ambitious and provocative project that challenges contemporary art practice by posing compelling questions about the nature and potential of an artwork. For the period of its exhibition the artwork will serve a variety of functions all engaging with the subject of homelessness. The work becomes a catalyst for the discourse that is central to Mick O'Kelly's artistic strategies. Active audience participation is invited during the discussion. 'An Artwork for an Imperfect World' has been prefaced with lectures by Dennis Adams, Edward Soja, Marjetica Potrc and Rob Nilsson. For further information on 'An Artwork for an Imperfect World' or to book a place at the talk please contact Claire Power at t. 671 0073 or email claire@templebargallery.com. This project is supported by the Arts Council through its Special Projects Funding Category. Temple Bar Gallery and Studios |
